All right, here we go. Where's the coffee? Stretch it out. Stretch out. All right. I'm Randall Glass. I'm a plumbing technician here at True Plumbers. I've been working for True for almost 11 years now. Been doing plumbing now for 23 years. I enjoy going out in the boat, going fishing, going to football games, just barbecues with my family. On a day-to-day basis, we normally come to a lot of leaks, stoppages. I like going into customers houses and when I get there, they have a problem when I leave, you know, it's fixed. Since I've been working for True, the benefits have paid off significantly financially. Getting more experience on a day-to-day basis. With plumbing, you always learn something new every day. No matter how much you know, you can always learn more.

Meet Randall Glass: 23 Years of Plumbing, 11 of Them at True

Randall Glass has been doing plumbing for 23 years, almost 11 of them at True Plumbers, which makes him one of the longest-tenured techs on the team. His day-to-day is leaks and stoppages, and his favorite part is the before-and-after: customers have a problem when he arrives and do not when he leaves.

Why small leaks are never small

Randall's bread and butter - leaks - is the category homeowners most consistently underestimate. A faucet dripping once per second wastes roughly 3,000 gallons a year, which is annoying; but the same slow leak inside a wall is not a water bill problem, it is a structure problem. Damp wood invites rot and termites, damp drywall grows mold, and the damage compounds silently until a repair becomes a renovation.

  • Check under sinks quarterly - touch the fittings, do not just look
  • Watch your water bill; an unexplained rise is a leak announcement
  • Know the age of your supply lines and angle stops; rubber and plastic parts fail from age, not use
  • A whole-home inspection every year or two catches the leak that has not surfaced yet - membership plans exist precisely for this
