Meet Ollie Dellafera, Lead Cabinet Installer
Ollie Dellafera is the lead cabinet installer at True Builders, installing cabinets, vanities, walk-in pantries, "or any other project the customer wants." Originally from London, England, he has been in the States for 8 years, travels and beaches in his spare time, and admits on camera he gets nervous being filmed, then explains his favorite part of the job better than a script could: every install is a blank canvas, and it makes his day when a customer looks back at their new kitchen. Because, as he puts it, "a kitchen makes a home."
The marks of a quality cabinet install
Cabinet boxes are built in a factory; a kitchen is built by the installer. The difference between fine and flawless is a set of details you can check on your own job.
- Level and plumb boxes, shimmed patiently, because counters and doors inherit every error beneath them
- Scribed fillers where cabinets meet walls, so gaps disappear instead of getting caulked wide
- Doors and drawer fronts aligned to consistent reveals, then soft-close hardware tuned, not just mounted
- Crown and trim joined tight at corners, the first place rushed work shows
- Screws into studs through the cabinet backs, because a pantry full of dishes is heavy
