Meet Emily Sikes: The MBA Running Point on Your Plumbing Call

Emily Sikes works in the plumbing division at True Plumbers, where she has put her master's in business administration to work across the company. Her number one priority, in her words: customer service. When calls come in, Emily's job is getting the right technician out fast so the problem gets handled.

How to describe a plumbing problem so it gets fixed faster

The intake call is half the repair. Dispatchers like Emily triage urgency, match the tech, and pre-load the truck based on what you say - so a good description literally speeds up your fix. Have these ready when you call:

  • WHERE: which fixture or room, and one floor or two (water travels - where you see it may not be where it starts)
  • WHAT: dripping, flooding, no water, no HOT water, backing up, smells - each points somewhere different
  • SINCE WHEN, and whether anything changed - new appliance, recent work, a freeze, a storm
  • WHAT YOU TRIED: plunger, breaker, shutoff - it saves the tech repeating it
  • ACCESS: gate codes, dogs, which side the water heater or main shutoff is on
