Inside a Renaissance Patio: The Upgraded Aluminum Room, Explained
Johnny films this one at a finished Renaissance patio project, where the crew also laid the slab. What makes the product different is the finish level: "decorative truss ends that give a wood frame appeal," high strength aluminum roof panels, sculptured headers and posts, custom post covers, and a custom gutter system. His honest framing: "you get what you pay for" - they are the premium tier of patio room.
True Aluminum installs Renaissance Patio Products as a licensed installer, and can carry the whole project from the slab up.
What an insulated-panel patio room actually buys you
Standard patio covers are single-skin aluminum: fine shade, but loud in rain and hot underneath by afternoon. The step up is a structural roof panel - aluminum skins over a foam core - which quiets the rain, knocks down radiant heat, and is engineered to carry spans cleanly. Panels like these are what let a patio evolve into a real room: ceiling fans and lights mount to them, and screen or glass walls can close in underneath later. Premium systems like the one in this video then dress the structure - truss ends, sculptured columns, post covers - so the aluminum reads as architecture instead of add-on.
Gutters for patio roofs: sizing and the super gutter
- Seamless gutters are rolled on site in one continuous length per run - fewer joints, fewer future leaks
- 5 inch seamless gutter is the residential standard; 6 inch earns its keep on large roofs and Florida's summer downpours
- A patio roof adds real catchment area to the house - its runoff needs a planned path, not a drip edge onto the pavers
- Where an enclosure attaches to the home, a super gutter does two jobs at once: an oversized channel for the water and a structural member the enclosure fastens to
- Downspout placement matters as much as gutter size; water should land away from footers and deck edges
