Faye's New Roof: Leaking Shingles Fixed Before Hurricane Season
Faye Senkbeil's roof had started leaking and was missing shingles, and with hurricane season coming she knew it was only going to cause more leaking. She heard about True Roofers through her daughter Emily, who works on the True Plumbers side of the family, so she gave it a shot and called.
Her review of what happened next is the whole video: the crew was there bright and early and worked one day until 7:30 at night nonstop, "the most politest bunch of men I've ever been around," and at the end they picked up the trash, swept the yard and flower beds with a metal detector for nails, and blew off the sidewalks and driveway. Her verdict: they did better than I expected, and they could not find a better company.
How a roof gets done in one long day
A one-day roof is not a rushed roof; it is a staffed one. Material is loaded onto the roof before tear-off, the crew strips and dries in one section at a time so the deck is never exposed if weather turns, and installers, cleanup, and quality checks run in parallel instead of in sequence. The reason companies push to finish in a day is for the homeowner: your home is never left open overnight, and your life gets its driveway back.
The metal detector detail (and why it matters)
Faye's favorite detail is the one experienced homeowners always mention: the magnetic sweep. A tear-off drops thousands of nails, and the difference between a professional crew and a cheap one is measured in what the lawn mower and bare feet find the following summer. A proper cleanup includes magnetic rollers over the lawn, flower beds, and driveway, plus blowing off hard surfaces, exactly as described here.
Do not ride a leaking roof into hurricane season
- A leak never shrinks: every rain adds water to wood that is already wet
- Missing shingles are a wind door: the next storm peels from the exposed edge
- Insurers distinguish storm damage from long-term neglect, so waiting can turn a covered event into a denied one
- Repair season is spring: crews, materials, and schedules are all easier before the first named storm
