Daleanne's Screened Porch: From Bug-Chased to "Exactly the Way I Wanted It"
Daleanne bought her house in June and loved the patio slab, but the bugs made it unusable, so she decided to get it screened in. She gathered three estimates, and True Aluminum came in with the best pricing - and she had a personal reason to give the team a shot: both of her daughters work for the True family of companies.
Her review of the crew is the kind you cannot script: polite, courteous, professional, and they cleaned up - she even tried to feed them, and they politely declined. The finish: "It came out exactly the way I wanted it." Would she recommend them? "In a heartbeat." By the end of the video she was already getting a quote for her French doors.
How to compare three enclosure estimates apples to apples
- Same scope: confirm each quote covers the same footprint, roof type, doors, and kick plate
- Same materials: screen mesh type, fastener grade, and gutter work vary quietly between bids
- Permits and engineering: the low bid that excludes them is not actually the low bid
- Cleanup and haul-away: in writing, because demo debris is real
- Warranty terms on both the structure and the screening work
The mesh decides whether the bugs actually stay out
Screening is not one product. Standard Florida enclosure screen is an 18 by 14 fiberglass mesh - 18 strands per inch one way, 14 the other - and it stops mosquitoes and everything larger. If your lot backs up to water or pasture and the biting midges (no-see-ums) come through anyway, a tighter 20 by 20 mesh closes the door on them at a small cost in airflow. Households with dogs or cats that test the lower panels should price pet screen there: a heavier vinyl-coated polyester weave that is dramatically harder to claw through. The right porch is the mesh matched to your actual pests.
